Subject:  Meds and Food for Kids
Greetings,

I send this email as a fellow partner in the fight for the survival of Haiti’s children.  As a pediatrician, I believe that all children should live to experience their fifth birthday. Yet in Haiti, malnutrition steals the lives of too many toddlers.

I founded Meds & Food for Kids (MFK) to save the lives of Haitian children dying of malnutrition. We produce and distribute Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF), an energy-dense peanut butter, fortified with protein and nutritional supplements, known as Medika Mamba, or “Peanut Butter Medicine” in Haitian Creole.

According to the World Health Organization, UNICEF and Doctors Without Borders, RUTF is the gold standard therapeutic intervention for childhood malnutrition. Research shows, and MFK’s experience confirms, that RUTF can rapidly put weight on a sick child, costs less and is more effective than hospitalization, and leads to recovery rates that often exceed 85 percent.

MFK is committed to the development of Haiti: we do not import Medika Mamba, but produce it in Haiti. We employ Haitians and use locally produced ingredients whenever possible.

Most of our Medika Mamba is provided to Haiti’s healthcare providers, both public and private, who distribute it free of charge to the parents of malnourished children.

Since 2003, MFK has offered the hope of recovery to thousands of children. In 2008, alone, MFK partnered with over 25 healthcare providers throughout all of Haiti to offer Medika Mamba to more than 4,000 children.

This is where we believe you may have a critical role to play. More than 120,000 Haitian children meet the medical definition for malnutrition. Far too few of these toddlers are receiving treatment—but this can change with your help.

Please visit our website at www.mfkhaiti.org and contact us at mfkhaiti@gmail.com to learn more about Medika Mamba, educate us on your work, and discuss how we might partner together to offer this life-saving product to more of Haiti’s malnourished children.

Thank you for your time and consideration.  I hope to hear from you soon

Sincerely,
Patricia B. Wolff,M.D.

Hello Barb, Thanks for the infor on your ministry.  Bill and I will be going to Haiti April 13-18. Please keep us in prayer We will be gone from April 5 through the 25th.  It is great to see others work in Haiti there needs are mamouth!!!!.  Blessings for your upcoming trip.  Just to let you know I usually fly out of Montreal on Air Canada as it is usually cheaper and it is a through trip They only fly on Tuesdays.  With a team it is cost effective although it is a 3 hour trip there It is truly worth the bypass of making connections.

Be blessed
